An African Development Bank (AfDB) initiative is underway whereby eligible Nigerian youths, who are interested in agribusiness, would be able to access an agricultural loan ranging between 50,000 dollars to 70,000 dollars with single-digit interest to kickstart their envisaged projects.
The AfDB initiative which is coming on the heels of an intervention from the International Institute of tropical agriculture (IITA), Ibadan aims at exposing Nigerian youths to the growing benefits of agribusiness.
A Production Manager under the Business Incubation Platform of the IITA, Oludare Odusanya unfolded this in Ibadan over the weekend while addressing teeming youths drawn from different parts of Oyo state for an empowerment programme under the auspices of the State Chapter of the National Orientation Agency (NOA).
While lamenting that Nigeria presently imports over N2billion worth of food annually, Odusanya told the gathering that the future holds a lot in stock for enterprising Nigerian youths in agribusiness and advised them to key into areas where they have passion and consider themselves most relevant across the agricultural value chain, be it, as agro dealers, input suppliers, transporters or as real farmers.
